I honestly didn't expect to find one of my favorite cafés here in Hanoi, but this place completely won me over. The staff were all amazing, especially Khan Vi. She was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. She recommended what to order, and every suggestion was spot on. The Mont Blanc coffee was hands down the best I've ever tasted. It was smooth, rich, and unlike anything I've had before. You can really tell they care about the quality of their coffee and the experience they give their customers. If you're visiting Hanoi's Old Quarter, don't miss this place. Great coffee, wonderful people, and an experience I'll definitely remember. I can't wait to come back!

The Running Bean Nhà Thờ - Coffee and Brunch - Cafe in Hanoi
About This Place
Nhà Thờ Street runs along one of Hanoi's most recognizable landmarks, and The Running Bean has staked out a position there that translates into one of the stronger review tallies in the Old Quarter-adjacent café scene — 4.8 stars across nearly 4,000 Google reviews is a number that takes years of consistent execution to build. The name signals the focus: coffee and brunch, the two categories that define weekend mornings in this part of Hoan Kiem. The address puts it within easy walking distance of Hoan Kiem Lake and the cathedral, which means the clientele skews toward a mix of Hanoi residents who make this a regular stop and visitors who stumble onto it while exploring the district. That kind of dual audience tends to sharpen kitchens — menus that work for both regulars and first-timers rarely survive on novelty alone. What the rating suggests is that The Running Bean has found a formula that holds up across seasons and repeat visits. For anyone spending time in Hoan Kiem and looking for a café that earns its reputation rather than its foot traffic, this is a reliable anchor point for a morning or afternoon.

Amazing drinks and service! The interior is gorgeous. Literally the best Vietnamese coffee I’ve had. My mom got the pandan coconut crushed (iced) and the coconut flakes tasted soo fresh! The three tiered cream, matcha, and coffee all tasted amazing individually and mixed together. Would recommend! Their food looks delicious as well; will be coming back for sure!
such a lovely brunch spot. we got the mushroom toast and big bacon toast to eat. both of these were so so delicious. we got an iced americano and strawberry smoothie to drink which also did not disappoint. not only is the food here amazing, the staff are so lovely and attentive. they are very friendly and greeted us with a smile. the restaurant is nice and air conditioned and has a lovely atmosphere - well spaced tables if you want a break from sitting on top of people🤣 cannot recommend enough

What we've tried Sea salt caramel macchiato - 8/10 Roasted almond Latte - 10/10 Meiji Matcha Latte (UJI)- 9/10 Matcha Coconut Cloud (UJI) - 12/10 Yuzu matcha - 9/10 TRB sizzling Bo Ne - 10/10 Eggs Benedict Croast with smoked salmon - 7/10 The crew is AMAZING - Love them and the energy they have. Prices are good not expensive. The cafe is nice to socialize OR work.
So much love for The Running Bean! Everything about it feels intentional, from the cafe’s aesthetic to the interiors to the drinks and dishes. They are all beautifully designed. We came as a big group so we got to try a variety of dishes, and almost everything we ordered was good. It’s all visually appealing that I found myself hesitating to even take a sip or dig in at first. The Tiramisu Gelato Waffle was my favorite for it had that right amount of sweetness. Easily one of my favorite cafes we visited in Hanoi! 🌟
