This is hands-down the best craft beer spot in Vietnam! Located right behind St. Paul’s/St. Joseph’s, it has a beautiful outdoor patio that’s perfect for a nice vibe and a drink after visiting this iconic spot. The craft beef is spectacular, the brews are top-tier, and the best part? They have plenty of fans to keep you cool. Highly recommended!

Pasteur Street Craft Beer Ấu Triệu - Premium Local Craft Beer in Hanoi - Brewpub in Hanoi
About This Place
Ấu Triệu sits at one of Hoàn Kiếm's better addresses—close enough to the lake to catch the evening foot traffic, far enough from the Bia Hơi corner to feel deliberate. Pasteur Street Brewing Company built its reputation in Saigon on beers that take Vietnamese ingredients seriously: jasmine, pomelo, peppercorn, and other local elements worked into recipes that hold up against the international craft canon. The Hanoi branch carries that identity intact, with rotating taps that reward repeat visits.
The crowd skews toward expats and Vietnamese drinkers who follow craft beer closely, though a 4.8 rating across nearly 4,000 Google reviews suggests it converts casual visitors as readily as regulars. The setting fits a brewpub: enough noise to feel alive without making conversation an effort, with seating that handles both pairs and larger groups without obvious awkwardness.
What separates this from the generic bar strips on Tạ Hiện or the tourist-facing beer gardens around the Old Quarter is the consistency of the product. The brewery has a house style—clean fermentation, local flavor accents, pours that don't taste assembled—and the Ấu Triệu location maintains it. For anyone arriving from cities with developed craft scenes, the quality level reads as legitimate rather than aspirational.
Hoàn Kiếm has no shortage of places to drink, but most of them are competing on location or price rather than what's in the glass. Pasteur Street competes on the beer itself, which is a narrower market but a more defensible one.
Reviews
I enjoyed the beer, the food and the music, good job to the kitchen. I especially enjoyed the grilled okra! However, I did not enjoy the service. When I arrived at the place, I had to look for my own seats as there was no one at the entrance where there were less than 5 customers in the restaurant. When I finished the first round of beer, I had trouble getting attention from the staff to order more beer after calling for them twice as it seemed that they were more interested in chatting near the back of the restaurant. A fellow customer had to shout the third time to get the service staff to my table (cheers to him!). I didn't expect this during the dinner service and the restaurant wasn't crowded. I still like the beer and the food, but I will try the other branches instead.
Pasteur Street Brewing Company is my favorite brewery in Asia. Out of all the breweries I’ve visited across the region, this one stands out because it does much more than serve great beer. It beautifully combines brewing with local Vietnamese flavors and culture. The experience feels cultural as much as it does culinary. Through their beers, we learned a lot about Vietnam’s ingredients, traditions, and beer culture. Each brew has its own story and reflects a unique local influence. The food is also excellent, presented in an elegant and creative way that pairs perfectly with the beers. Overall, it’s a fun, memorable experience that goes beyond simply having a drink. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to explore Vietnam through its food and craft beer. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Really loved the atmosphere at Pasteur Street in Hanoi. The beers were genuinely good especially if you like trying local craft brews with unique flavours. Staff were friendly an I'm surprised that they speak English well the vibe is relaxed, and it’s in a great location near the cathedral so it’s easy to stop by while exploring the Old Quarter. Perfect place to escape the chaos for a bit and enjoy a quality beer flight. Would definitely come back.
FANTASTIC quality craft beer brewery in the heart of the Old Quarter, Hanoi. Lots of great choices, good IPAs, insane barrel-aged Porter/Stout. Really good, healthy food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
